Phormium tenax 'Atropurpureum' is an evergreen perennial. Big, dramatic plant composed of many swordlike, stiffly vertical leaves can reach 5' tall. Leaves are purple red. Flower stems reach high above the leaves, bearing clusters of 1"-2" wide, dark red blossoms in spring and summer. Phormium can be grown in full sun or light shade. It looks better with regular watering. This variety is heat tolerant.

The Ginko biloba, with its distinct fan-shaped leaves, initially grows with a pyramidal habit, but later becomes wide-spreading. It is generally not bothered by insects or disease.

This evergreen reliable shrub will grow about 3'-4' tall and has large green leaves with blue flowers (there is a white variety and dwarf varieties) that bloom in spring and summer. It will grow in all soils but prefers loam soil. It needs full sun to bloom.
